15 year old Staten Island teen, Amanda Cummings committed suicide after experiencing continuous bullying from a group of students at her school. She was a sophomore at New Dorp High School. She committed suicide by jumping in front of a bus. A suicide note was found in her possession. She was rushed to the hospital where she later died. Even as she lay in the hospital, her bullies kept harassing her on her Facebook page.
Im not even sure what drives people to keep bullying and harassing another person to that point. What does that really say about the lives that these bullies lead? I can remember teasing and bullying going on in schools when I was younger, but Ive never seen anything to this magnitude. It seems that the advancement of technology is helping take bullying to a whole new level. A person who is bullied now receives threatening text messages as well as threats online. There seems to be no escape for someone who is just trying to escape all the meanness. Im not sure what the correct solution is for these situations but something needs to be done.
