Nearly a month after releasing a video entitled, "It Gets Better", gay film maker Eric James Borges committed suicide. The 19 year old made the video to encourage the and support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth (LGBT). In the video he speaks about how he was tormented because of his sexuality. Borges also spoke about how his mother performed an exorcism on him to 'cure' him of his sexuality.
I never understood how someone can be judged on their sexuality. I've always respected anyone that is able to be themselves and love who they want. It is a shame that we still live in a society where people are not able to mind their own business. I have many friends who are homosexuals and they're no different than my heterosexual friends. Most people find fault in it because of their religion. I always thought that you were to hate the sin, not the sinner. Meaning that it is not okay to be a douche just because you do it in the name of whatever lord/god you happen to serve. It's just all rather ridiculous if you ask me. A person is still going to be the same person that they were born to be no matter their sexual orientation. It just goes to show you how little we have really advanced as far as acceptance in this society.
